Consultations are available both face to face as well as virtually.

The initial consultation is about establishing your symptoms and medical background.

At the initial meeting we will listen to your symptoms as well as go through a comprehensive list of questions about issues that you may not have considered to be associated with your menopause. It is very important to ask about any previous or on-going health issues, as well as any medication either prescribed or over the counter.

The first appointment lasts for 45 minutes and although this seems quite a long time, it’s not often that consultations finish early.  We can provide with you a prescription (if appropriate) at the time of the consultation and a clinical summary letter will be sent soon after. It is common practice for your GP to be able to provide an NHS prescription- but this would be at their discretion. All prescribed medications are NICE recognised for the management of menopause.

We have the facilities to have a pelvic ultrasound during the meeting and have any blood testing as well.

A pelvic ultrasound is not routinely needed at the time of the consultation but is useful when patients have irregular bleeding, bloating or pelvic pain. A pelvic ultrasound gives a great deal of information about the womb and ovaries so some patients will want to have an ultrasound for reassurance.

We will request blood tests only when clinical necessary, but again some patients will want them for reassurance. The role of hormone testing in menopausal patients is discussed here.
